Annual Senior Shoot:

The Wealthwood Gun Club, Aitkin, Minnesota, held its annual “Seniors Shoot” on Thursday, September 1, 2016.  Each year, the club works with the Care Center at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and invites senior citizen residents of The Care Center to the club to shoot Clays at a special TRAP field the club sets up for the shooters.

Each of the residents sat in their wheel chairs in front of their custom made TRAP targets. They were able to shoot five times, one at a time, at their own targets. Each shooter used a .410 gauge shotgun, provided by club volunteers.Senior Shoot at the targets

The volunteers who helped assist each resident in their shooting experience were Ron Fox, Bill Feyo, George Carleton and Dave Miller. The weather was perfect, sunny with a little wind that made the shooting a bit of a challenge for the shooters. But when you looked at their scores, the wind really didn’t make a difference. The residents were then wheeled into the Wealthwood Gun Club’s Club House for lunch, prepared by The Care Center’s Staff.

The Wealthwood Gun Club extends its thanks to all of the shooters, to Kai, Mary and Bruce from The Care Center and to Ali Engler, Activities Director/Social Worker for the Care Center at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, for again arranging this year’s event with the folks at The Care Center and the Wealthwood Gun Club. Local businesses often donate shooting supplies for the event. As in the past JJ’s Guns of Crosby donated .410 shells for use in the shoot. Thanks to Jon and JJ’s for the assist this year.

The "Seniors Shoot" for 2017 is already in the planning stages.
